April 1st, 2009 - North Andover, Massachusetts
Police from NEMLEC's STARS Team responded to a bomb threat at North Andover High School, Wednesday April 1st. The bomb threat was phoned in from a payphone in neighboring Middleton. Students from the high school were evacuated to a nearby middle school while police and their canine counterparts searched the high school campus. The students were bussed back to the high school around 11 am. Middleton and North Andover police are still investigating the call. Chief Richard Stanley of the North Andover Police Department reported that the BeSafe System was utilized to assist the teams searching the campus:
“We [used] the BeSafe Floor plans and they were of great assistance to the search teams and the explosive canine teams. We had about 10 dogs for the search. It all worked out just as planned.”
