User Account Settings

Properly setting your User Account settings will ensure you can utilize the tools and features BeSafe.net offers.  This guide will highlight the key settings to optimize your experience.

 

Accessing your User Account settings:

You must be logged in at www.besafe.net to access your User Account settings.  Once logged in, hover the mouse over the "Welcome (your name)" button at the top-right corner of your screen, and click on My Account (shown below)


My Account

The image to the right is the My Account screen.  This is where you manage your User Account settings, including email addresses, physical addresses, SMS information, password, preferences, and more.

  • On this screen you can:
  • Add a Job Title
  • Add a picture
  • Change your password
  • Enter additional email addresses
  • Add a physical address
  • Add websites
  • Include phone and fax numbers
  • Add an OpenID (not used by BeSafe)
  • Include a SMS Messenger ID
  • Include Instant Messenger IDs (not used by BeSafe)
  • Add Social Network IDs (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter)
  • Select options for Alerts and Announcements

The most commonly underutilized items to configure are the Alerts and Announcements preferences and SMS Messenger ID.


Configuring SMS Messenger ID

SMS Messages(Short Message Service), also known as a "Text Messages" on a cellphone, are one of the alert and announcement options available at BeSafe.net.  To utilize the SMS messages feature, you will have to enter your SMS ID on the SMS Messenger ID tab.

To determine your SMS ID you will need to a) know your cell phone number, b) have text message service on the phone, and c) know your mobile phone carrier.  Use the list below to determine your SMS Messenger ID.  If you carrier is not on the list, please contact support@besafe.net and we will assist you.

Once you have determined your SMS ID, enter it in the SMS ID field. Example: SMS

After entering the SMS ID, scroll back up and click the button. 


 Configuring Alerts and Announcements Preferences

There are three ways you can receive Alerts and Announcements.

  1. Email - You will receive an email containing the message
  2. SMS Message - You will receive a text message on your cell phone containing the message
  3. On the Website - You will receive the messages only on Alert and Announcement sections of BeSafe.net.

Select the desired delivery method(s) on the Alerts and Announcements tab (shown below).

 

When you have made your selections, scroll back up and click the button.

  • Comments
